AstroImageJ

AstroImageJ (AIJ) provides an astronomy-specific friendly graphical environment and tools for accurate precision image calibration and analysis. It is focused on processing for spectrophotometric data from ground-based and space-based resources providing Flexible Image Transport (FITS) files of raw and previously calibrated images. AIJ includes tools for accurate time-based measurements and will generate light curves from aperture photometry as well as fitted profiles for exoplanet transits. Its users include

  • Astronomers of all kinds, professional, academic and amateur, who prefer a modern, well-documented and validated processing tool also compatible with command-line and Python scripting for interactive processing and analysis of their data
  • Students and anyone interested in astronomy who want a tool to visualize and explore "real" images and data from public archives for HST, JWST, and their own telescopes
  • Developers who may use the flexibility of an open source ImageJ core with the option to add modules of their own devising
