This is the executable binary for SAOimage ds9 from http://hea-www.harvard.edu/RD/ds9/ The source code is available from that site as well. However, it may not compile on all Linux systems, and we suggest using the binary whenever possible. The script install_ds9 will copy the 64-bit binary to /usr/local/bin/. Other versions of ds9 should work equally well for image acquisition with xmccd. You will also need xpa. It is best to compile and install it from the source code included in XmCCD if it is not already on your system. On some linux systems where the network has 127.0.0.2 defined in /etc/hosts insure that xpa works by checking that HOSTNAME is the short name for the system, eg. "name" rather than name.net hosts has the entry 127.0.0.2 name name where name is the short name for the system. If this network is not needed, then the entry 127.0.0.2 should not appear at all in hosts.
