Mt. Kent

Tasks

Safety review for Mt. Kent staff (in progress)

Safety upgrades to EDG building roof access (nearly complete)

All-sky camera installation on EDG building roof platform (requires hole through roof)

Diagnosis and repair of site camera's sticky iris (requires dismantling camera)

Receipt of shipment of equipment for CDK20S (awaits shipment from US)

Installation of new autoguider on CDK20S (awaits anodizing of components in US)

Installation of Wacom field camera on CDK20S (cameras received in US, August 6)

Installation of U16M and IFW filter wheel on CDK20S (cameras need linearity measurements before shipment)

Repair of weather station's serial interface (spare part on hand in US)

Install new rain monitor

Suse 11.2 installation on Mt. Kent 1 (low priority, fall 2010)

Work on refurbishments of dome for CDK700 (target October 2010 depends on CDK700 schedule)

Upgrade encoders or replace CDK20S mount to get unguided tracking.

Notes

Shipment of parts to Mt. Kent awaiting completion of shop work for echelle grating housing to be black anodized in the same batch with the bracket for the guider.

Delivery date on CDK700 is not known.

Rain monitors are not yet available from the manufacturer but are expected in August.

Moore

Tasks

Test firewire video feed from CDK125 for live planetary imaging (current)

Add permanent firewire interface to roll roof computer system (on order)

Develop web interfaces for CDK125 enabling student use (August)

Test Apogee U16M and IFW filterwheels on CDK20N (August)

Complete software pipeline for remote/autonomous operation of CDK20 photometry (September)

Develop web interface for remote operation of CDK20's (prototype by September 5)

Develop web interface for queued autonomous operation of CDK20's (December)

XmCCD driver for CDK125 focus (August)

Install rain monitor (August)

XmTel driver for Ascension 200HR (September)

Install Ascension 200HR replacing CDK20N prototype mount (September)

Test Renishaw upgrade to prototype mount (October)

XmTel driver for dual-encoder modified prototype mounts (October)

Ship new CDK20S mount to Mt. Kent (December)

Design, build, and install remotely operated mirror covers (early 2011)

Test small and large echelles with RC24 (August)

Ship completed small echelle to Mt. Kent for use with CDK700 (December)

Notes

Rain monitors are back ordered

Roll roof remote operation requires wiring limit switches.

Paramount/Linux driver in beta test August 10, 2010.

U16M and IFW have been installed on CDK20N and will be tested in August.

New FSQ delivered in July for co-mounting with CDK125 in August.

Software

XmDome

Dome on CDK20S points incorrectly around zenith

There are some places where dome partly obscures scope

Tests needed for discontinuity in mapping telescope pointing to dome azimuth, possibly causing unexpected dome slews

XmTel

Focus readout in xmtel not working on CDK20S (possibly corrected in lastest XmTel build for CDK20S)

Tracking on prototype mounts does not permit unquided exposures longer than 10 seconds
